    In 2029, owing to genetically engineered plants intended to reduce mutant abilities, the mutant population has shrunk drastically and the X-Men have disbanded. Logan, whose self-healing ability is fading, has succumbed to alcohol and is now making a living as a chauffeur. He looks after the ailing elderly Professor X, which he keeps secret from him. One day, Logan asks a female stranger to drive a girl named Laura to the Canadian border. He declined at first, but the professor had been waiting for her to appear for a long time. Laura has exceptional fighting prowess and is like Wolverine in several respects. She is targeted by sinister figures who work for a strong company; this is because, with Logan's DNA, they made her. A decrepit Logan is prompted to question himself whether he can or even needs to make good use of his remaining powers. It would seem that in the near future, with razor-sharp teeth and telepathic abilities, the days with which they were able to set the universe to rest have now stopped.
